Whether you are an aspiring or emerging writer, someone interested in seeing exciting new pieces of theatre, or keen to pick up a bargain in our bookshop - there is something for everyone at Up Close: Glasgow.

Events on the day:

Introduction to Playwriting (10.30am)
useful guidance for aspiring playwrights and interested members of the public. No experience necessary.

Making Applications & Proposals (11am)
Cultural Enterprise Office's practical workshop for individuals on making applications and proposals for funding, commissions and residencies. This workshop covers planning and structuring your approach, the key information you need for your application, discussion on what funders and commissioners are looking for and the materials required to support your proposal. The workshop will be delivered by playwright and theatre producer Tim Nunn, Cultural Enterprise Office's Specialist Performance Adviser.

BBC Scotland Radio Drama (12.30pm and 2pm)
For anyone interested in writing for radio, led by David Ian Neville

Further Skills for Playwrights (2.30pm and 4.30pm)
For those with some experience of playwriting, or who have attended an Inspire session in the past.

De-Mystifying Writing for Television (4pm)
BBC Scotland Drama Department along with a panel of Scottish Screenwriters discuss their experiences writing on long running and returning series.

Informal Play Reading (7pm)
A reading from a group of Scotland’s writers and actors working together.

Since booking opened on 1 March, we have been delighted with the overwhelming response. We have added some more workshops and are working to try to accommodate as many people as possible. If you would like to contact us with your name, email address and telephone number stating your preferred sessions, we can get back in touch with you about any spaces that may become available.
