CCA Book Fair

CCA Book Fair

Saturday 30 May 2009

The CCA book fair is a non profit event pulling together a series of alternative and independent publishers from Scotland and further afield, aimed at anyone interested in contemporary art, design, architecture or new ideas.  Participants include Cornerhouse, Bookworks, Black Dog publishing, Film Video Umbrella, Transmission, Fruitmarket, Sick Happy Idle, Dot Dot Dot, Garageland, Arty, Printed Project, Black Dogs Leeds and Aye Aye Book Depot.

With a focus on self publishing, profiling independent and experimental works, the fair will launch 2HB Volume III, the CCA’s publication for creative writing in Contemporary Art with contributions from Chris Evans, Will Bradley, Tirdad Zolghadr and Laura Aldridge.

Artist run space Generator will also launch their new publication by Glasgow based artist Mick Peter and Book Works will host the official Scottish launch of Fair Use (Notes From Spam) by Graham Parker, in which the New York-based artist considers the reviled phenomenon of spam e-mails, as a symptom of globalisation and as part of a historical continuum of deceptions played out through the communications technologies of each age. www.bookworks.org.uk

Bareface, a peer-on-peer enterprise of artists and writers exploring what we do, will also feature this month.  New, vibrant and focused on exploring with the bare-faced cheek to be brilliant, Bareface features six young brazen and ferocious artists living and working in Scotland.  Born from the frustrations of stock-rotation, sock sorting and spit-polishing cutlery.

In the first edition you will find:

Oliver Herbert
John Heffernan
Katrina Valle
Jose Campos
Jenny Richards
Katy Smail
