Creative Lab: Reoccurrence / Ricercare

Creative Lab: Reoccurrence / Ricercare

Monday 2 November - Saturday 28 November 2009

For the Creative Lab, Raydale is exploring ideas of reoccurrence and ricercare within mathematics and music. On going research will be presented as an evolving sound installation, accompanied by a collection of natural science and mathematical models on loan from the D’Arcy Thompson Zoology Museum, University of Dundee.

Superstition and magic collide with logic.

“ Raydale Dower is working through his obsession with numbers and more specifically their pattern forms in terms of the harmonics in art, music, nature, space. For the CCA, Raydale is creating a Magic Theatre -part kaleidoscopic laboratory, part work, rest and playground, part temple, all studio. To conduct, analyse, calculate, decipher. To muse, confuse, enlighten and darken. Go inside. “

- Excerpt from essay 12XU by Graham Domke.

Raydale Dower is an artist and self-published musician, a founding member of the band Uncle John & Whitelock.
In 2007 he adapted and performed Joseph Conrad’s novel The Secret Agent in collaboration with Judd Brucke and Lowsalt Gallery for GI2007.
He currently performs with Jamie Bolland and Mathew Black as Tut Vu Vu who will play at the CCA on November 27th.
