Acting Up! Drama Sessions for Children and Young People

Join us at CCA for a creatively stimulating programme of theatrical fun and frolics inspired by the themes explored in our ever-changing visual art exhibitions.

Actor and writer Clare Hemphill offers three innovative sessions every Saturday: at 2.30pm the focus is on young people aged between 12-18 years, with 11am - 2.30pm devoted to children aged between 5 - 11 years.

Clare’s workshops are a place for creativity, building self-esteem and having fun! It is our hope that with the facilities at the CCA we can develop young people’s work not only in theatre but also TV and film.

A warm welcome also to any children with special needs – so give it a shot – we dare you!

Drop- in Drama for Young People (Age 12+)
Date: Saturdays
Time: 2.30pm - 4pm
Space: Clubroom
Cost: £52 for 8 week block
Lots of new fun improvisation games like 'Who's Line is it Anyway'. A good way to make friends with other young people who like acting! 'Pay As You Go' Drama for Kids (5 – 11 years)
Date: Saturdays
Time: 11am – 12 noon
Space: Clubroom
Cost: £6 per class
As well as being great fun on its own, this class is also a feeder to the extremely popular 1pm class, so, if you're stuck on the waiting list for the 1pm class, feel free to pop along to this one - it's pay as you go, so you're not committed for a whole block. In addition to all the fun stuff we do in this class, due to public demand we are now also incorperating a small annual show for parents to attend.

Drama for Kids: 8 week Session (6 - 11 years)
Date: Every Saturday for 8 weeks
Space: Clubroom
Time: 1pm – 2:30pm
Cost: £40 payable in advance

The kids plays, written by Clare at the CCA, for up to 25 children of mixed ability and with a big emphasis on comedy, are for the first time now available to buy for use by other groups and schools. In the first instance contact her on clare.hemphill@talktalk.net

Look out for Clare's own co-written six part drama series on STV this autumn (2008) called 'CRACKED'.
