Catherine Czerkawska is an award winning novelist and experienced playwright with many professional productions for the Traverse, Glasgow’s Oran Mor and more than 100 hours of drama for BBC Radio 4. Now, many years after she was first traditionally published, she is embracing the digital revolution with her backlist and with new work published in eBook form.

The Curiosity Cabinet, one of three finalists for the Dundee Book Prize, was first published by Polygon but is now available on Amazon Kindle along with two more novels: Bird of Passage and The Amber Heart, an epic historical novel loosely based on her Polish family history. A new novel, Ice Dancing, is due for publication in September 2012. Many of her plays and short stories are available as print or eBooks, while her hardback history of the Isle of Gigha, God’s Islanders, was published by Birlinn in 2006.

She writes both historical and contemporary fiction. Her work has never slotted comfortably into any one genre although she would call herself a natural mid-list writer.

A qualified mediaevalist and folklorist, she has held many Creative Writing fellowships and residencies and spent four years as Royal Literary Fund Writing Fellow at the University of the West of Scotland. She is currently on the committee of the Society of Authors in Scotland and the Ayrshire Arts Network. When not writing, she deals in antique and vintage textiles which often find their way into her writing.
