The Glasgow Americana Festival will finish this year with a superb Texas Song Writing Circle featuring four great acts.
Taking part in this special and intimate show will be Sam Baker, Eliza Gilkyson, Danny Schmidt and Carrie Elkin.
Sam Baker, who also plays the CCA in a matinee show the day before, is a heart-warming and moving artiste with beguiling and enticing songs that never fail to enthral.
Eliza Gilkyson, the Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and activist, is a captivating performer whose has top-notch admirers such as Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Tom Rush and Rosanne Cash, all of whom have recorded her songs. She is also on the night before at the CCA so, like Sam, this is a double treat for fans.
Joining them will be the amazingly talented and highly-rated, Danny Schmidt from Austin, Texas and fellow Austin-ite, Carrie Elkin.
Many rate Schmidt as good as any singer/songwriter to emerge in the past 15 years while Elkin has a dazzling voice to wow audiences.
“I have promoted each of them individually so being able to bring them all together on the one stage like this is a real pleasure” Kevin Morris, Festival director.
“This will be a magical way to bring the curtain down on this year’s Festival.”
“Sam Baker songs are gripping, insightful, gently witty and more pungent than most.” Americana-uk
“Gilkyson is one of the most influential artists on the American folk music scene.” Maverick
"Schmidt is a stellar poet and musician, and media comparisons to a string of legends are not amiss. He's too original and too good for a mere cult following." Dirty Linen Magazine
