CCA curates six major exhibitions a year, presenting Scottish and international contemporary artists in our main gallery space. We are also home to Intermedia Gallery, showcasing emerging artists.

Major artists including Kate Davis, Faith Wilding, Frances Stark, Rosalind Nashashibi, Mariana Castillo Deball, Olivia Plender, Sarnath Banerjee, Harun Farocki, Jeremy Millar, Ross Sinclair, Janine Antoni, Narelle Jubelin, Tracey Moffat, Bik van der Pol, and Abraham Cruzvillegas have exhibited at CCA over the years.

Major group exhibitions include Art Unlimited with Christine Borland, Christo, Cornelia Parker, Dalziel & Scullion, Damien Hirst, John Cage, Jonathan Monk, Joseph Beuys, Mark Wallinger and Roy Lichenstein; New Art in Scotland, curated by Douglas Gordon, and including works by Nathan Coley, Victoria Morton, Carol Rhodes, David Shrigley, Clara Ursitti and Richard Wright; and The Shock of Victory with Alec Finlay, In the Shadow of the Hand, Mairéad McClean, Antonis Pittas and Oraib Toukan.

The programme seeks to support Glasgow based artists and to bring their work to the wider public. There is also a selection of international artists to present important new work or models of artistic practice from around the world. As CCA forges links with particular regions there are also exhibitions that reflect that interaction and explore issues of mutual interest.

Intermedia is an independent gallery space funded by Glasgow City Council and managed by CCA in partnership with Glasgow Life. The gallery is located within CCA but operates independently of the CCA’s curated exhibition programme. Exhibitions are selected by a panel that includes representatives of both CCA, Glasgow Life and the city’s independent visual arts sector. Funding is awarded to exhibiting artists towards exhibition costs. In return, artists take full responsibility for organising, curating, installing, publicising, invigilating and de-installing their exhibition. CCA has hosted Intermedia since 2006, when it moved here from King Street.
