BUZZCUT: DOUBLE THRILLS presents Eilidh MacAskill + Sh!t Theatre (BSL)

Wed 16 November 2016

Buzzcut Double Thrills

BUZZCUT's DOUBLE THRILLS programme continues with a double bill of rad, hilarious, queerdos... Eilidh MacAskill and Sh!t Theatre

LETTERS TO WINDSOR HOUSE
Sh!t Theatre
BSL Interpreted by Catherine King

Sh!t Theatre are Rebecca Biscuit and Louise Mothersole. They have lived and worked together for five-and-a half years now. From the kitchen of their North London council flat they have been watching a London and a friendship that’s changing. This housing crisis gets personal.

This is a show for Generation Rent. Song, politics, dodgy landlords, property magnates, detective work and a loophole in the Postal Services Act, all come together in (another) potentially felonious hour by the makers of 2015’s award-winning Women’s Hour.

Commissioned by Harlow Playhouse, developed supported by Arts Council England and associate artists of Camden People’s Theatre.

Eilidh MacAskill
BSL Interpreted by Amy Cheskin

A cowboy, a DIY expert and Sigmund Freud walk into a stable…

In this hilarious queer solo show, Eilidh MacAskill bares all to swagger through masculinity, machismo and misogyny in a fully-frontal, yet thoughtful meditation inspired by Freud’s theories of sexuality and how they continue to influence us today.

As Freud would have it, this masculine-identifying lesbian is clearly missing something important. Is trying on a series of macho identities a clear case of penis envy, or is that a load of horseshit? A stripped back show for anyone who likes their psychoanalysis heteronormative and their cowboys in the buff.

“Wonderful edgy gender fun” Kate Bornstein, Gender Outlaw

“A DIY horse whispering of gender identity…incredibly likeable and enjoyable… genuinely thought-provoking” Lewis Church, Exeunt

“Very funny and very naughty” Lyn Gardner, The Guardian
