CCA Glasgow

CCA Update Jan 26 - Continuing from our October Update

Since our last published update, CCA Glasgow has continued operating during a period of transition. While progress in some areas has been slower than we would have hoped, work across programme delivery, governance, and dialogue has continued alongside day-to-day operations. The building was consistently busy through our Nov-Dec season, filled with Festivals, Performance, Dance, Literature, Music, Film and exhibitions in both our Intermedia and main Gallery, and we thank all those who attended and made this happen!

Below is a summary of the ongoing actions at CCA:

Governance and Leadership

The Interim Director has concluded his interim role period. As operational oversight is shared across the management team, the CCA programme delivery continues.

Although a Chair of the Board was appointed in December, they have since stepped down. Governance and leadership arrangements will be shared once confirmed.

Dialogue and Accountability

CCA has continued to collaborate and communicate with staff, partners and funders. Further discussions took place between sector representatives and funders.

CCA continues to engage in ongoing correspondence and dialogue with advocacy groups. This engagement remains focused on listening, clarity of responsibility, and maintaining a safe and respectful working environment for staff and partners.

CCA continues to explore new ways to strengthen our approach to ethical policy and fundraising.

Updates will continue to be shared openly.

Upcoming Activity at CCA

CCA programme delivery continues as normal, and we look forward to hosting a very exciting programme with partners over the coming weeks.

An upcoming event titled Liberated Zone: Creative Protest has been proposed by Art Workers for Palestine Scotland. This activity is not part of CCA’s programme and is not produced by CCA. The organisers have stated they have no intention of disrupting the CCA’s programming and that the protest will be carried out with respect and solidarity with the staff team.

On this basis, CCA staff have communicated our intention to take an accommodating and de-escalatory approach to activity that does not disrupt programmed events. We have shared our preparatory work with partners and organisers, and proposed additional preparatory meetings in advance to coordinate health and safety efforts. For clarity, we will not be enlisting additional security. A security representative will be present during evening hours to monitor the bar, in line with normal procedures.

We have been visited by local police regarding Art Workers for Palestine’s planned activities. This was unexpected. We reassured them that police presence will not be necessary and have specifically asked them not to be present.

CCA Glasgow remains in a period of transition. The programme is made possible through the commitment of our staff, partners, cultural tenants, and audiences, to whom we extend our thanks.
