Free Association Participatory Performative Workshop by Satoshi Hashimoto

Participatory Performative Workshop by Satoshi Hashimoto

Curator Naoko Mabon will be hosting Free Association's November session. Naoko has invited Tokyo based artist, activist, curator and researcher Satoshi Hashimoto to hold an audience-participatory performative workshop within the cinema at CCA.

For four weeks between October-November 2019, Satoshi is taking part in a residency programme at Art Action UK in London. This is an arts collective that began through responding to the 2011 disaster in North East Japan, which triggered the nuclear crisis in Fukushima.

For this session, Satoshi will create a condition in a cinema space which motivates the audience to take actions in an almost choreographic way. This will reflect his research time in London during a time of intense political fragmentation around Brexit. Through the performative workshop, the audience will consider their positions as bystanders and action-takers and the passive and active roles we play in society.

The workshop is free but places must be reserved in advance as there is limited capacity. Please note: the activities in the workshop may involve filming/photographing participants. Booking will open mid Sept via the CCA. This event is part of CCA's Open Source Programme. We hope you can join us.

Free Association is a connected, critical and supportive space for artists, makers and educators from a diversity of fields and artforms. We want to actively contribute to publically available, open access and commons based models of learning, living and working together. We run a monthly community meeting and use existing public resources to share, make and discuss. We also run events and workshops led by the interests of those who attend.
