Glasgow Zine Fest
SQIFF Presents: By Hook or By Crook + Unhung Heroes

Sun 15 April 2018

By Hook or By Crook (2001) chronicles 3 weeks in the life of a handsome, small-town trans man with a nagging messiah-complex. Shy heads to the big city to sink himself into a life of crime and meets Valentine, a deliriously expressive, wise-acre adoptee on a misguided search for his birthmother. The 2 freaky grifters join forces and get up to misadventures in this anti-authoritarian tale of friendship, trust and redemption. Screening alongside Unhung Heroes (2002), a short comedy about five trans guys who scheme to raise over a million dollars for a penis transplant. Lazlo Pearlman, film and performance maker, academic, and director of Unhung Heroes, will join us to chat DIY queer and trans filmmaking.

Both films are in the English language with English language subtitles or captions. The post-film chat will be BSL interpreted.

Ticketing: Glasgow Zine Fest are using a sliding scale ticketing system this year. You can choose to pay £0 to £2, £4 to £6, £8 for all events, workshops and talks that require tickets.

Please be honest with yourself and your financial situation. If you purchase a ticket at the lowest end of the scale when you could afford the higher ticket prices, it makes it harder for us to provide financial flexibility to those who need it. More information here.
