SQIFF Opener The Misandrists

Wed 27 September 2017

The Misandrists

Queer film legend Bruce LaBruce's newest feature dives headlong into the world of the Female Liberation Army hiding out in the heart of Gerwomany. Led by Big Mother, the FLA indoctrinates its young recruits to take up the struggle of freeing all female people through a mix of revolutionary porn-making, songs about taking down the patriarchy, and even a sneaky dancing nun. But does the FLA's brand of radical feminism hide some darker and more exclusionary beliefs?

We are excited to be joined by director Bruce LaBruce and actor Caprice Crawford for a Q&A after the screening followed by a drinks reception.

Presented in partnership with Goethe Institut Glasgow.

Content note: depiction of violence and real surgical operations, discussion of sexual assault.
