Joe Sloan

Purification By Mud was an exhibition of new work from Joe Sloan that made use of prosthetic technologies such as POV cameras, contact microphones and body casting, to look critically at patriarchal conceptualisations of the phallus, castration anxiety and the erotics of fluidity.

It featured drawings, mud, seeds, contraceptives, fairylights, a hard bench and soft upholsterings, as well as new video work featuring mess-making with clay, fruit and bodily fluids, to explore individual and collective sensual experiences as alternative ways of feeling, thinking and doing (white cis male) sexuality.

Purification By Mud took place between Tue 1 - Sat 12 November 2016.
