Tako Taal | Compound

Tako Taal discusses her exhibition Compound, open in Intermedia between Fri 1 September — Sun 17 September 2017. Compound was an exhibition examining figures of the stranger and an extended family, and traced a personal narrative in a search to embody welcome gestures. It presented two new video works - one filmed at the Gambia Tourism Hospitality Institute - along with documents from a family archive, print and objects. The exhibition borrowed its form from a common living arrangement in West Africa.

This exhibition was supported by Aberdeen City Council Visual Artist Award, Creative Scotland and Hope Scott Trust.
