Acting Up! Drama Sessions for Children and Young People
Sat 8 October 2016

Acting Up Drama workshop for kids and young people
Acting Up consists of weekly drama workshops at the CCA to nurture creativity and ideas in children and young people from age 4 – 15 years.
The classes help build creativity and confidence by introducing performance and improvisation skills while having a whole lot of fun in a space already bursting with contemporary art and inspiration. The classes also provide a good grounding in relationship skills, as respect, co-operation and equality for every child’s ideas and abilities are sewn into the very fabric of Acting Up. Thoughts, opinions and ideas are discussed freely every week – often accompanied by much shared laughter!
In short, Acting Up is a ‘starring in your own life’ kind of class - though every year, each child will also star in their own show, a public production in the CCA theatre made up from their own characters and ideas, scripted by Clare Hemphill and the team and filmed for DVD.
The workshops have been running very successfully for a decade. Currently we would like to extend an extra welcome to children and young people from different cultural backgrounds. Acting Up aims to be as welcoming as possible to every child - held in the CCA Clubroom every Saturday, every new child and their family are welcomed personally by our friendly team of five. We offer a £6 pay-as- you- go price for anyone who wants to give it a try for three weeks.
Please email Clare at clare.hemphill@talktalk.net for more info and don't be afraid to give it a whirl!
