History Happens at Night

Over the last month Adam has taken part in the CCA’s Creative Lab residency, on Friday 5 May at 7pm he will present ‘History Happens at Night’ as a culmination of his research.

Using the format of the ‘talk show’ he will present material that looks at the intersection between spiritualism and anarchism.

Involving readings, live performance, video clips and examples from test shoots the informal programme will constantly shift focus around the room with the presentation emulating its content.

The event will include a performed reading extracted from an interview between Kathy Acker and Sylvere Lotringer, an extract from the documentary ‘Spare Time’ made by Humphrey Jennings in 1939, a live performance by Leatherette, a short presentation about Anarchism and Design and a clip from at the Third Eye Centre Video archive.

Please arrive at 7pm, for a 7.15 start. History Happens at night will last for approximately 1 hour.

Adam is interested in setting up situations and shared authorship – exploring filmmaking as a space for relinquishing total control. Incorporating traces of process, and performance amidst a surplus objects, information, images, and stuff. Aside from carrying out research during this residencyhe also experimented exploring a new method of filmmaking that brings together a ‘talking-heads’ documentary style with loose interrupted performance.

Adam would like to thank to Sukaina Kubba, Alicia Mathews, Elizabeth Murphy, Nikki Tirado, Scott Caruth, Christopher Strachan, Alberta Whittle, Ainslie Roddick, Remco de Blaaij, Francis Mckee, Kenny Christie, Christopher MacInnes and everyone that works at CCA for there help and support during the residency.
