Awa & Romany Black History Month Sabar Edition
Sun 25 October 2015
Please note this event was previously advertised in print and online as taking place across Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October; however Saturday's event has unfortunately been cancelled, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
For this year's event, we are looking to bring something very special. Sabar is a traditional drum from the West African nations of Senegal & Gambia. It is generally played with one hand and one stick, and the Sabar was used to communicate with other villages. There will be 2 workshops, Drumming and Dancing, plus a performance in the evening.
Drumming with Amdy Ngom - 12pm to 1.30pm
Drummer, dancer, teacher Amdy Ngom will be running the Drumming Workshop with his friends. For more info about his talent go on Youtube and you will see more about him
Lunch Break 1.30pm to 2.30pm
Dance with Eva Goudiaby - 2.30pm to 4pm
Dancer, teacher and performer Eva Goudiaby will demonstrate the Sabar technique moves in a very fun and easy way.
Then we will end the day with a lively sharing and performance from 5pm to 5.30pm.
