Aye-Aye Books: Arild Vange and Neil Davidson

Arild Vange and Neil Davidson have been working together on improvised poetry readings since 2009. Their work also includes the theatre company Dvell. Arild writes poetry in Norwegian. His poetics is deeply connected to listening and his readings are informed by improvised music. They are in the process of developing their project to include the translation of Arild's poems. This will be the first public reading of his poems in English.

Neil Davidson is a guitar player and composer. He works mainly in improvised music performing with the groups Asparagus Piss Raindrop, Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra, With Lumps and Muris. He has performed with the BBC SSO and in 2013 he and Liene Rozite produced new work for the Edinburgh Art Festival. He teaches performance and composition at Glasgow University and runs the net label Never Come Ashore.

Arild Vange is a poet and translator. He has written several critically acclaimed books of poetry including improvisasjon person and annerledes enn. His translations include the work of Franz Kafka, Anja Utler, Peter Waterhouse and Yoko Tawada. He collaborates regularly with musicians including Lemur, En En En and Neil Davidson, and is currently working in collaboration with visual artist Per Formo. His own poetry has been translated into German and English.
