The Bill Douglas Award at Glasgow Short Film Festival showcases new international short films that reflect the qualities found in the work of Scotland’s own Bill Douglas: honesty, formal innovation, and cinematic storytelling that places sound and image centre stage.

Memory, legacy and family tensions are explored in the second Bill Douglas Award selection. A child literally flies the nest, an inner demon is made flesh and desert sands invade a long forgotten childhood home. An internal voice sends out a cryptic cry for help and a mother and son embark on a long overdue conversation.

The programme includes award-winners from Cannes, Melbourne, Annecy, Sarajevo and DOK Leipzig, as well as the latest work by GSFF regular Vytautas Katkus (Lithuania).

All films captioned for d/Deaf viewers.
