CALQ Residency 2017
CCA is into its eleventh year of an exchange programme with the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres in Québec (CALQ). Each year one artist based in Scotland, and one based in Québec, engage in a three-month exchange. The exchange will focus on visual arts, with artists given a studio space to make work and access to workshop facilities.
The artist will be based with our new residency partner, Centre Clark in Montréal.
The Centre d’art et de diffusion CLARK is an artist-run centre dedicated to the presentation and production of contemporary art. CLARK has many entities, both physical and virtual, each with its own function. The two main components of the Centre are its Gallery, comprised of two exhibition spaces where over ten exhibitions are presented each year, as well as special projects, an audio listening station, screenings and performance events; and Atelier CLARK, a woodworking shop, the only one of its kind in Montréal. The Centre also houses a library, book launches, performances and several off-site projects and partnerships. More info can be here.
CCA wishes, through this collaboration with Québec's foremost supporter of artistic creation, to foster the career development of artists based in Scotland and enable them to take advantage of the numerous benefits that CALQ offers. CCA also wishes to further broaden longstanding relationships between Scotland and Québec.
The objectives of the exchange are to:
• support and stimulate artists by making available to them the means to carry out and disseminate their works;
• foster refresher stints among artists by making accessible to them a new, stimulating cultural environment;
