Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture makes its annual trip to CCA to host a day-long event of music, drama and visual art in collaboration with Ceòl ’s Craic. Ceòl Mòr Ostaig begins with a lively daytime programme highlighting the college’s involvement in the dramatic and visual arts.


Daytime Programme:


2.30pm: Presentation by Visual Artists in residence in Residence Jessica Ramm and Alex Boyd on their work, followed by questions and discussion.


4pm: Interactive Gaelic Drama workshops for teenagers.


Evening Programme:


7.30pm: The evening’s entertainment starts with a performance which combines theatre, film and live music. “An Sgeir” is a new drama written by the student performers and directed by Arthur Donald, Gaelic Dramatist in Residence.


8.15pm: The drama will be followed by a display of the fantastic musicianship which is being nurtured and developed by the college as six multi-talented performers take the stage to present what promises to be a blistering set of tunes and songs.


9 - 9.30pm: Break


9.30pm: The evening’s bill will be completed with the firstappearance by a new partnership featuring two leading lights of the Gaelic traditional music world. Kathleen MacInnes is renowned as one of Scotland’s finest exponents of Gaelic song. For this performance she will be accompanied by acclaimed guitarist Ross Martin of Gaelic supergroup Daimh.
