Gaelictronica

Gaelictronica combines Gaelic vocal and instrumental music with electronica to create a unique fusion of traditional, ambient and dance sounds.

Shona Brown has collaborated with artists ranging from Mogwai to the National Theatre of Scotland. She uses looping technology to layer flute, vocals and electronics to create atmospheric soundscapes. Shona’s performance will include a new piece featuring Gaelic Psalm singers from Dowanvale Free Church.

Whyte is a new alliance featuring Ross and Alasdair Whyte. Ross is an award winning composer and performer whose work has been used in choreography, film and live theatre. Alasdair is a Gaelic singer, Mod Gold Medalist and a writer who seeks inspiration in ancient Gaelic music.

They have created a series of specially commissioned pieces based on the historic Gaelic songs Alasdair has been researching at Glasgow University.

The League of Highland Gentlemen combine dazzling musicianship on pipes, fiddles and whistles with keyboards, guitars, beats, samples and a passion for classic tweed tailoring to bring the ceilidh to the 21st century and beyond! LHG features some of the foremost young musicians on the contemporary Gaelic music scene.

Each of the acts are collaborating with a different video artist / film maker to provide an exciting interactive backdrop to their performance.
