Ceòl 's Craic Oidhche Americana / Americana Night

Oidhche Americana
This event is a celebration of the cultural connections between traditional Gaelic song and the musical genres which combine to make what is now known as Americana: Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Gospel and Rock ’n Roll.
Iain "Costello" MacIver and John Murray have been playing music together for over twenty years. As the duo New Tradition, they appeared in the television series, Tuath Cheòl in the mid 1990s which resulted in the release of their only CD recording, Ar Cànain's Ar Ceòl in 1995. Since then Iain Maciver has released four solo albums. Their music consists of many of Iain Maciver's compositions which lean heavily towards the Country genre. They are currently being supported by Lynsey MacRitchie on fiddle/piano and Coinneach MacLeod on drums.
Costello hails from the Isle of Lewis and is perhaps the leading exponent of the unique Gaelic / Country crossover scene. He has reformed his band for this one off performance making this event an unmissable chance to see a true Western (Isles) music legend!
For this performance he'll be joined by among others, Gaelic singer songwriter and Mod double gold medalist Darren MacLean and Port Glasgow’s rockin’ Véloniños.
This diverse line up will demonstrate how Celtic Music travels round the world and returns home in new forms.
