Ceòl Mòr Ostaig celebrates Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Scotland’s National Centre for Gaelic Language and Culture on the Isle of Skye. Our event features students from the BA (Hons) Gaelic and Traditional Music Degree programme who are joined by world-class staff and alumni for a fantastic night of Gaelic entertainment.

Griogair Labhruidh is the newest member of staff on the Gaelic and Traditional Music Degree programme at SMO. An award-winning Gaelic singer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and activist for Gaelic language and culture, Griogair is an innovative artist who combines traditional music with Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk and Soul.

An Cùrsa Ciùil / Sabhal Mòr Ostaig is the ever-evolving student ensemble from the BA (Hons) Gaelic and Traditional Degree programme. This year, an all female group will showcase the fantastic musicianship being developed at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

Angus and Eilidh MacKenzie with Murdo Cameron. The new duo of Angus and Eilidh MacKenzie will be joined by Murdo Cameron. Angus (pipes/whistle) and Murdo (bouzouki/guitar) are well known as part of ‘Gaelic supergroup’ Daimh. Eilidh (vocals/clàrsach) first came to notice as a member of the trail-blazing, all female group Dòchas.

Murdo L. We are delighted to announce the return of controversial performance poet Murdo L MacIver. The modern day Lewis bard will present a new collection of works reflecting the contemporary Gaelic zeitgeist.

German/Scottish artist Bibo Keeley will provide back projections featuring images taken from her series The Wind In My Soul. Bibo created the images during an artists residency on Skye funded by Glasgow’s WASPS Gallery. The resulting artworks drew influence from the dramatic landscapes and ancient folklore of the island.

Tha Ceòl Mòr Ostaig a’ comharrachadh Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Ionad Nàiseanta Cànan is Cultar Gàidhlig na h-Alba san Eilean Sgitheanach. Tha an tachartas againn a’ nochdadh oileanaich bho phrògram Ceum BA (Urram) ann an Gàidhlig is Ceòl Traidiseanta còmhla ri luchd-obrach agus alumni airson oidhche air leth de fhèisteas Gàidhlig.

Tha Griogair Labhruidh mar an neach as ùire de sgioba luchd-obrach prògram Ceum Gàidhlig is Ceòl Traidiseanta aig SMO. Mar sheinneadair Gàidhlig a choisinn mòran duaisean, riochdaire, neach-cluiche ioma-ionnsramaidean agus iomairtiche às leth cànan is cultar na Gàidhlig, tha Griogair na neach-ealain ùr-ghnàthach a tha a’ cothlamadh ceòl traidiseanta le Hip Hop, Jazz, Funk agus Soul.

Tha An Cùrsa Ciùil / Sabhal Mòr Ostaig na bhuidheann de cho-cheòltairean oileanach bho phrògram BA (Urram) ann an Gàidhlig is Ceòl Traidiseanta. Am-bliadhna, bidh buidheann mhnathan a’ mòr-thaisbeanadh nan sgilean ciùil mìorbhaileach a tha gan leasachadh aig Sabhal Mòr Ostaig.

Aonghas is Eilidh MacCoinnich le Murchadh Camshron. Còmhla ris an dithis ùr Aonghas is Eilidh MacCoinnich bidh Murchadh Camshron. Tha Aonghas (pìob / feadag) agus Murchadh (bouzouki / giotàr) làn aithnichte mar phàirt den ‘àrd-chòmhlan Gàidhlig’ Daimh. Thàinig Eilidh (guth / clàrsach) gu aire an toiseach mar bhall den bhuidheann bhoireannach, Dòchas.

Murdo L. Tha sinn air leth toilichte fàilte air ais a chur air a’ bhàrd chonnspaideach Murdo L MacÌomhair. Bidh am bard nuadh-aimsireil seo à Leòdhas a’ taisbeanadh cruinneachadh ùr de dh’obair a tha a’ nochdadh spiorad co-aimsireil na Gàidhlig.
