New Collaborations brings together Gaelic and non-Gaelic speaking artists, seasoned professionals and aspiring young performers,
traditional and more experimental forms of music. For six months young musicians from Glasgow’s east end have been exploring Gaelic music and culture guided by an expert team who represent all that is exciting and innovative in Gaelic music today. This diverse group of mentors includes pioneering Gaelic musician Margaret Nicolson and emerging new talents Ceitlin Smith, Alasdair Whyte and Innes Strachan.
The culmination of the New Gaelic Music songwriting initiative is represented by a grand finale performance featuring new compositions
and reinterpretations of traditional Gaelic song by the young musicians.
Mentors and young musicians come together as Margaret Nicolson of trailblazing Gaelic band Na h-Oganaich and her fellow mentor
Alasdair Whyte are joined on stage by some of the exceptionally talented young musicians they've been working with.
