Due to demand, there'll be an additional screening of The UK Gold at 5.15pm
Christian Aid and Oxfam present a screening of an exciting new award-winning documentary, The UK Gold, narrated by Dominic West with music by Thom Yorke (Radiohead) and Robert Del Naja (Massive Attack).
The film explores global tax dodging through the eyes of London vicar, Rev. William Taylor, as he stands up to the financial institutions of the City. He's been shocked at what he has discovered making the film, discovering the depth and complicity of the UK’s tax havens. Indeed, Christian Aid estimates that $160 billion a year is lost by developing countries to corporate tax dodging, more than twice the total amount they receive in aid.
The UK Gold has been described as a story ‘seismic enough to shift perceptions of finance and flag forever’. It is a truly compelling look at the depth and complicity of the UK’s tax havens in fuelling the financial secrecy that allows global tax dodging to rob poor countries. Rev. Taylor challenges us to watch the film and take action to confront the injustice of tax dodging.
