Conradh na Gaeilge Glaschú 1916 Seachtar Dearmadta: John MacBride & Willie Pearse

Thu 6 October 2016

Conradh na Gaeilge Glaschú

Two episodes from 1916 Seachtar Dearmadta: (The Forgotten Seven), the follow-up series to the award-winning 1916 Seachtar na Cásca telling the story of the other seven leaders executed after the Easter Rising in Kilmainham Gaol.

This series from Abu Media's explores the lives of these seven other executed men. In the series a one hour-long programme is dedicated to each one of them: Michael Mallin, Ned Daly, John MacBride, Willie Pearse, Micheál O’Hanrahan, Seán Heuston and Con Colbert. It maintains the standard set by the critically acclaimed first series it tells their stories in a docu-dramatic form, with re-enactments of episodes from their lives interspersed with information from various historians.

On the second of four screening events, the 1916 Rising Centenary Committee (Scotland) and the Pádraig Pearse Branch of Conradh na Gaeilge, will screen the episodes from the series about John MacBride & Willie Pearse.

John McBride was famously, if unhappily, married to Maud Gonne, fought in the Boer Wars and was caught somewhat unaware by the Rising.

Willie Pearse is best remembered as the younger brother, and confidant, of Pádraig.
