This unique evening celebrates the written word in Irish (Gaeilge) and Scottish Gaelic (Gaidhlig) and Scots. We welcome the return of renowned Irish (Gaoth Dobhair) poet Máire Wren after her reading at Oíche na Scríbhneoirí at Féile na Gaeilge Glaschú 2012, as well as poet Colette Ni Ghallchoir from the County Donegal Gaelteacht (a place with huge connections to the Irish in Glasgow & Scotland), who will read from her collections Idir dhá Ghleann and An Chéad Chló.

Two Scottish authors, well-known to Glasgow audiences, will also be joining us: Andy Philip, who has published two highly regarded full collections of poetry, and is one of the two Scots Language Editors of Irish Pages; and Aongas MacNeacail, a Scots Gaelic speaker from Skye and one of the foremost contemporary poets in the three tounges of Scotland. He is the author of five collections of poetry, most recently a new and selected poems in Gaelic, Deanamh Gaire ris a Chleoc /Laughing at the Clock, and has a pamphlet of poems in Scots forthcoming.

All our featured writers are contributors to the recently published Self edition of the Irish Pages literary journal (www.irishpages.org), which will have it's Scottish launch at this event.

Stories & poems will be introduced in English as well as Gaeilge/Gaidhlig to help non-fluent speakers.
