Cryptic these delicate things
Thu 13 November — Sat 15 November 2014

these delicate things
Designed and directed by Cryptic’s Josh Armstrong
Josh Armstrong returns to CCA with his new work these delicate things following his sensational performances of The Embassy and Little Match Girl Passion. A multi-disciplinary performance in two acts inspired by the life of extraordinary photographer, Francesca Woodman and accompanied by Gavin Bryars’ String Quartet No.2 and Dimitri Shostakovich’s rarely heard String Quartet No.15.
“I was inventing a language for people to see the everyday things that I also see… and show them something different…” - Francesca Woodman
Known for his sumptuous designs, Armstrong brings to the stage choreography and delicate objects; tableaux and moving images are constructed, crossing the boundary between theatre, dance, music and visual art. these delicate things features performances from the Astrid String Quartet and dancers Penny Chivas, Sally Owen and Michael Popper.
“Saturated with symbolism… artful, sobering...timely stuff” - The Guardian on Armstrong’s Little Match Girl Passion
