Dance House: Early American Pioneers of Postmodern Dance - an Artist Talk by Diane Torr
Wed 12 June 2013

Diane Torr
This Artist Talk by Diane Torr will explore the work of three very different American post-modern dance pioneers: Anna Halprin, the innovative dancer and choreographer who founded the ground-breaking San Francisco Dancer's Workshop in 1955; Simone Forti, a choreographer and musician who was known for her dance style based on basic everyday movements, improvisation and the activities of animals and plants; and Lucinda Childs, whose unique choreographic style lay in spatial exploration, and the different patterns the human body can create across a stage by repeating basic combinations in different ways. Childs also recently created the choreography for the pioneering experimental opera Einstein on the Beach, which was re-mounted as part of the programme at Sadler's Wells, London.
The talk will be followed by a short Q&A session with Diane.
