CANCELLED Dance International Glasgow Trajal Harrell Lecture: Maybe To Spectacle
Thu 17 October 2019
We regret that Trajal Harrell’s lecture tonight, Thu 17 Oct, has had to be cancelled due to circumstances outwith our control. Please contact the CCA box office for refunds. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused. The performances on Fri 18/Sat 19 Oct at Tramway will go ahead as planned.
Trajal Harrell came to contemporary dance world fame with the Twenty Looks or Paris is Burning at The Judson Church series of works, which theoretically juxtaposed the voguing dance tradition with early postmodern dance. He is now considered one of the most important choreographers of his generation.
During Dance International Glasgow, Trajal Harrell will conduct a seminar that is part-lecture and part-conversation. Using video and photographs, Harrell will map the trajectory of his aesthetic history beginning with his work on voguing and early postmodern dance and moving on to more recent work with butoh and modern dance. Short sections of some of the dances will be viewed. The seminar will move freely between looking, listening and talking as interests and questions arise from being in the room together.
