Article 17: Right to Own Property
In 1966, Ken Loach’s Cathy Come Home was a television sensation, searing a housing crisis onto the national psyche and spurring the growth (but, contrary to common belief, not the founding) of Shelter. How much really changed in the days and decades since that landmark broadcast? And of what importance is adequate housing in establishing and strengthening the right to health? A post-screening discussion will approach these questions from a variety of enlightening angles, including the programme’s true legacy and how we can build a housing system in Scotland that will support human rights.
