Encounter With a Lost Land
UK Premiere
Jaffa is one of the most ancient cities in the world, where inhabitants of all religions lived together. Patrice Boureau was the chief director of a French hospital in the city from the 1930's to 1952. His children were born and raised there during this period.
Maryse Gargour sets out to find Boureau's children, and the children of other French resident families, some of whom had lived in Jaffa since the 19th century. Based on correspondence, diplomatic and audiovisual archives, and the personal stories she uncovers, Encounter With A Lost Land reveals the everyday dynamics of life in a historic Palestine that has changed beyond recognition.
