Toto and His Sisters
Toto and His Sisters (2014, Romania)
Dir. Alexander Nanau
Alexander Nanau brings us the astonishing family story of Toto (10), and his sisters, Ana (17) and Andreea (15). Set in Bucharest, Nanau is invited to document the lives of these three siblings. Their lives tested by the stresses of destitution, abandonment and drug addiction - middle child Ana attempts to keep her family together and be wiser beyond her years. A powerful story of the human condition and learning how to survive in the face of insurmountable circumstances. Toto and His Sisters has won awards from festivals around the world and we are delighted to have this harrowing film close this year's festival.
Preceding the film we will be announcing the International Jury Prize. Join us in Saramago after the film for conversation and drinks.
