The Ground Beneath their Feet

The Ground Beneath Their Feet (2014, US)
Dir. Nausheen Dadabhoy

In Nausheen Dababhoy's inspiring film we meet two women struggling to redefine themselves in the face fo a traditional society. The Ground Beneath Their Feet tells the story of Khalida and Ruqiya who have been paralyzed when a devastating earthquake strikes the north of Pakistan. The film explores the evolution of their attitudes, bodies, and futures over five years - as they struggle with their physical and emotional recovery and redefine what it means to be a woman in the Muslim world.
