FTA Still
Come see “The Show the Pentagon Couldn’t Stop!”. As the US reigned terror upon Vietnam a merry band of celebrity activists, fronted by Jane Fonda and the late Donald Sutherland, formed their own protest troupe the F.T.A, or to give them their full title F*** The Army. Set up in opposition to the pro-war USO tour, headlined by conservative entertainers like Bob Hope and John Wayne, the troupe took the anti-Vietnam sentiment across military bases across South-East Asia performing and speaking to the disillusioned GIs about the conflict.
Francine Parker’s documentary captures the movement in all it’s equally angry and irreverent glory. Unsurprisingly squashed for decades for its political content, FTA is a thumb in the nose of the American War Machine that nonetheless remains relevant today.
