Families Outside: Mothers of Bedford screening

80% of women in US prisons are mothers of school-age children. Mothers of Bedford follows five mothers in Bedford Hills Correctional Facility and focuses on their relationships with their children. A mother herself, filmmaker Jenifer McShane was drawn to the universal themes of motherhood. As we watch the mothers inside Bedford trying to become their better selves, we see parts of our own selves - and that gives us all hope.

Part of European Prisoner's Children Week (1 - 8 June). This screening is the first time this film has been shown in the UK and will be followed by a panel discussion.
