Strophebodies
Strophebodies is an installation using several large arrays of speakers placed on the floor throughout a large, open space. Each array is a performative body which creates music using a small synthesizer programmed to react to sounds and movement in the space or randomly generate musical gestures.
The aims of the installation are to propose a new type of body for performing and interpreting electronic music where a speaker is allowed a sonic and physical presence and to offer an updated role of the composer / performer relationship, where the composer creates a set of phrases and textures which are interpreted by a digital synthesizer (axoloti microcontroller) based on random and reactive parameters.
