Field Day

Join us at the edge of the city at the beautiful Lambhill Stables for an afternoon of gardening as part of Glasgow's Climate Week.

Field Days offer relaxed and hands-on sessions in which you'll learn to grow crops for seed. We will learn together how to successfully grow, nurture and nourish crops for organic seed production, learning techniques to build up a healthy soil, how to control pests naturally and what kinds of care are needed by different plants.

These sessions offer practical experience in a range of gardening activities, as well as opportunities for group learning and discussion. Activities include tending to seedlings, weeding, netting, bed maintenance, and sowing seeds.

The afternoon will include a break for refreshments. Lunch is available to buy at the on site cafe or participants are welcome to bring their own.

About the Organisers

Glasgow Seed Library is a collection of seeds and a community of growers. The library stocks organic and open-pollinated vegetable, herb and flower seeds for everyone to borrow, grow and save. Throughout the year, Glasgow Seed Library organises free workshops, talks and events around seed skills, community growing and earth care.

Lambhill Stables, on the banks of the Forth and Clyde Canal, is an inspiring community hub improving the north of the city for all. With a bike hub, cafe, kitchen and a community garden that is open to everyone, they provide opportunities for learning new skills, taking part in creative and social activities, and caring for the environment.

Accessibility

Lambhill Stables Garden has an accessible toilet and indoor and outdoor seating. The main path in the garden is paved and a slight slope. Some tasks at Field Day can be made wheelchair accessible - please email meg@cca-glasgow.com if you have limited mobility and would like to be involved.
