My Hero My Hero, by Jamie Dyer

What makes home movies significant for an audience unfamiliar with their content and the events they portray?

Featuring three moving image works, this event delves into the allure of the home movie, how they shape our sense of self, fuel our nostalgia and capture collective experience through personal home-mode documentation. These works, each with their own unique perspective and narrative, explore the dynamics between the past and present, class, memory, and identity.

Drawing on existing research into class-related praxis, this event seeks to understand how and when a memory truly defines who we are.

The exhibition encompasses a two-day screening programme showcasing the three films, accompanied by a publication featuring writings and film stills.

Repeat screening on both days. Each film will be followed by a brief discussion with the artists.
