Qu'un seul tienne et les autres suivront (Silent Voice)
France 2009, 120 mins.
Dir. Léa Fehner. With: Pauline Etienne, Reda Kateb, Vincent Rottiers
French with English subtitles.

Three stories of love, treachery and redemption come together in the visitors' centre of a French prison. Laure (Pauline Etienne) is an angry and rebellious sixteen-year-old who has fallen in love with Alexander (Vincent Rottiers), a squatter with a hatred of authority. When Alexander ends up in prison, Laure wants to visit him, but discovers those under eighteen can only see inmates while accompanied by an adult. She talks Antoine (Julien Lucas), a doctor, into tagging along with her.

Pierre (Marc Barbe) is a white-collar criminal whose business partner was recently sentenced to twenty-five years behind bars. He meets Stéphane (Reda Kateb), a timid messenger boy, and is amazed to see that he is the spitting image of his incarcerated friend, and as such offers him a large amount of money in exchange for taking the convict's place as part of an escape plot.

Finally, Zorah (Farida Rahouadj) is an Algerian woman who is coming to terms with the death of her son, believed to have been killed by Francois, currently serving time. In order to set up a meeting with him and confront him about the murder, Zorah persuades his sister Céline (Délphine Chuillot) to help her, but Zorah learns that the events that led to her son's death were not as she imagined.

The Franco-German Film Series is presented by Alliance Française and Goethe-Institut Glasgow on a monthly basis between March and July 2014 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the cohabitation of both cultural institutions in Glasgow.
