GFF: Dog Lady (La mujer de los perros)

There are echoes of Agnès Varda’s The Gleaners & I in this enigmatic portrait of a woman who has found her own version of the good life. Played by co-director Verónica Llinás, our nameless protagonist survives in the wilds outside Buenos Aires. With a pack of dogs and a parrot for company, she forages and hunts for food, picks fruit from nearby trees and makes use of the things that others have thrown away. The film follows her through the changing seasons and the daily challenges she faces. A gentle, wordless reflection on the pleasures of life lived far from the madding crowd.
