GFF: Paulina (La patota)

Lofty ideals clash with bitter reality in an unflinching reworking of the 1960 classic La patota. Paulina (Dolores Fonzi) is a promising young lawyer who gives up her studies to teach in a remote village near the Paraguayan border, believing she can make a difference to the lives of her students. When she is violently attacked, Paulina refuses to be deterred, embracing a form of martyrdom that puzzles those around her, especially her father, a powerful judge. Built around a deeply committed performance from Fonzi, this complex, thought-provoking parable was a major prize-winner at Cannes Film Festival 2015.
