A documentary that fearlessly highlights one of the pressing issues facing women in the 21st century, Netizens (directed by Cynthia Lowen, who brought you 2011’s equally powerful Bully) charts the lives of three women whose horrific experiences of online harassment lead to them channeling their pain into making real change in the world. Carrie Goldberg, Tina Reine and Anita Sarkeesian all suffered cyber-mob assaults, revenge porn attacks and death threats, yet their stories of overcoming abuse are inspiring and necessary viewing. A film that demands to be heard.
