GIOfest XII Day 1 Evening Concert
Thu 28 November 2019
GIOfest XII
The evening kicks off with a rocket launch of our new GIOxtensions feature. This first concert of the festival will feature MNDMTH : CONVERGENCE - a sonic-visual collaboration between drummer/composer, Stuart Brown, and new media artist, Stephen Curtis. This project, mixing elements of experimental music and generative visuals, utilises improvised percussion as a means to generate and “paint” unique sound and graphical explorations.
The evening will continue with our first guest, Anne Pajunen, from Sweden, who will present her piece The SALT Variations, a complex arrangement of musical and literary themes, utilising all of the ensemble’s range of instruments and voices.
The final set on Thursday will be a short set from the full 34-strong GIO Ensemble with a new piece utilising the CCA Theatre space as a starting point for exploring sound and from that small group partnerships will form as the piece develops.
