LUX Scotland are excited to launch a publication reflecting on ‘GIVE BIRTH TO ME TOMORROW’, the 2020 – 21 Artists’ Moving Image Festival, at CCA Glasgow, Creative Lab on Saturday, 7 September at 4pm.

The event will feature an in-conversation with the festival’s co-programmers Tako Taal and Adam Benmakhlouf, introduced by LUX Scotland Director, Kitty Anderson. Attendees will have the opportunity to pick up a free copy of the publication which has been designed by Isabel Barfod.

“This publication is an extension of GIVE BIRTH TO ME TOMORROW, LUX Scotland’s artists’ moving image festival. It is a re-introduction, a programme guide and a letter. It is also a reflection on the process of co-programming a film festival during a global pandemic, as well as a manual for a seven-card tarot spread. Festival and publication were forms to gather together fourteen film and video works split across seven episodes that took place over 12 months in 2021. Collapsing our festival into these pages, we still hold onto the rationale of extension. In the design, blank pages are visual reminders of both the intentional pauses and unforeseen gaps between episodes.”

–Tako Taal and Adam Benmaklouf, an introduction to the GIVE BIRTH TO ME TOMORROW publication.

Please note: We have changed the time of this event to 4pm to allow the organisers to attend the anti-racist protest that is scheduled to take place in George Square, Glasgow from 12 – 4pm.

As you may be aware, a racist protest has also been scheduled to take place that day. We can provide a travel bursary for anyone who would like to attend the publication launch but doesn’t feel safe coming by public transport. This fund will be administered on a first-come, first-served basis.
