Limited Partnership packs a huge emotional punch as it charts a forty-year love affair that was inextricably linked with the struggle for gay rights in America. American citizen Richard Adams and Sydney-born Tony Sullivan met in 1971. In 1975, they were married in Colorado, the first state to issue a same sex marriage licence. When Richard applied for a green card for his spouse, it was denied on the official grounds that ‘you have failed to establish that a bona fide marital relationship can exist between two faggots’. Contemporary interviews, newsreel footage and home movies cover the long fight for equality and an inspirational, unbreakable romance.
