Introduced by Rosie Lewis, a practising artist and projects co-ordinator at the Angelou Centre – a black run women’s centre in Newcastle.
Filmed during the final years of her life, this documentary focuses on author Audre Lorde’s influential literary and political legacy in Germany, especially its effects within the black German diaspora. As an internationally famous black lesbian writer and political activist, Audre Lorde continues to positively affect contemporary queer politics beyond her untimely death from cancer. This film shows playful sides to her, capturing her laughter and times with her partner, as well as revealing more of her political insights and anger at oppression.
Accompanied by short berlinherosurban, Dir. Jamika Ajalon.
