This award-winning documentary follows the lives of four transgender and gay people in contemporary Pakistan. Revealing interviews explore both their pleasures and struggles with love, family, money, campaigning and the laws of the land. This informative and moving film shows Khawaja Sra (the term now preferred to Hijras) keeping alive the practice of traditional dance forms and the giving of blessings. Despite recent important and positive reforms to Pakistani law all who are classed as sexual minorities still face societal prejudice and many are actively engaged in campaigning for changes. The film itself forms part of these efforts and the director Saadat Munir initiated the first (queer) festival for sexual minorities – the Aks Festival in Pakistan, with which GLITCH has the honour to be twinned as a bhaji or sister festival. Director Saadat Munir will be present for a Q&A alongside a special guest.

Accompanied by short film Will This Change?, Dirs. Anurupa Prakash & Lok Prakash
