Women’s Forum: Women’s Voices in Culture and Politics in Cuba and Scotland 2018, in collaboration with Edinburgh University, followed by informal discussion and refreshments.


Screening of a thirty minute documentary about women’s lives and contemporary issues in Cuba


Followed by a panel discussion covering:



  • How do you ensure/encourage women to participate in civic society to change things in their interests?



  • Latest developments in the Cuban Parliament where over 50% of the representatives are now women and 40% black or mixed race



  • Issues that affect young female workers




Speakers include, Teresita Vicente Sotolongo (Cuban Ambassodor to UK) Laura de la Uz, (top Cuban actor) Helen Yaffe (GU) Erin McAuley (Unite Union) Raquel Ribiera (EU, chair)


This will be followed by an informal discussion with refreshments.
